PTFE Oil Additives 700

I'm generally not one to use oil additives, but when I was changing the oil on my 90 745 GL last weekend, my father-in-law stopped by and insisted on having me try some type of PTFE (teflon) oil additive that cost something like $30+ per quart. Wasn't my money and I didn't think it would do any harm, so I said sure.

Well, damn if my gas mileage didn't increase by more than 10% this week -- from 24-25 MPG to 28 MPG. Same commute -- 55 miles each way -- same traffic levels, same driving style. This stuff is also supposed to increase power and response, but I'm not sure if I've notice that or not.

Anyone else have experience with this stuff? Long-term experience? Any potential harm to the engine or components?

Be interested in hearing.
