possible cause for backfire 1800 1972

I tried disconnecting the vacume line to distributor with no affect on problem. Also I left out some info, the car is fuel injected and has an electronic ignition upgrade that has worked fine for years. I am begining to suspect a crack in the map sensor diafram I will do a vucume test on that. I will also check for injector leaks (both fuel & air). The dis. cap and plugs are also new also with no affect on problem. I really think that the exhaust leak is a possibility although I can't seem to find one I can smell one in the car.

Thanks,
Thad
