no start volvo 700 1989

well i have a 1989 volvo 740 turbo intercooler and when i bought the car the seller told me that i needed a valve adjustment.i found out that the car needed a oil change and a new alternator belt. i also needed to put coolant in the car too. i put the coolant in the car but now the car won't start. could the problem be that i overfilled the car with coolant or spilled the coolant inside the car. also when the car did work the car did not have a lot of power to acelarate. when the car was in park the rpm would go up 1 2 3 4 but when the car was in drive the rpm woulg only go 1 2. that really concerned me. i no nothing about cars and especially volvos. tell me what could be wrong with my car.

sincerely,
huntergreen
