I put my daughter in a '96 965 ( and got stuck with her '88 245) just a few months ago. I'd do it again in a heartbeat. The price sounds right, especially if the maintenance records are consistent.
The radio can be replaced, plug-n-play, with just about any SC-series radio. I put in an SC-816 I bought used (both CD and tape players built in).
Check the FAQs to see if it's the radio or the wiriing or the speakes before you replace anything
