What are the symptoms of... 200 1990

...A steering rack going out? A couple of weeks ago the car started steering hard. It would track perfectly straight but steered hard into turns. It ended up the left ball joint was shot. Had that replaced yesterday at an indy shop with a NAPA tie rod/ball joint. The car then had a front end alignment. Now, the car still tracks straight but now will not straighten out from making a turn. At speed and say halfway into a turn if I leave go of the steering wheel the front will continue to turn to the limit instead of centering.

No oil is leaking from the rack and the reservoir is full of (dirty) oil. Is it possibly a rack problem or did I get the car back with some strange caster angle or too much toe-in or is it possible something got jazzed up on the tie rod replacement? I have never run across something like this before.

BTW, before the ball joint went out the steering was very light where you could almost turn lock to lock with your fingertips.
