SHOCKING DISCOVERY - NEED HELP - COIL ARCING TO TERMINALS 200 1984

It's been a while since my last post. Yestersay I replaced a bad fuel line. Drove the car to the gas station to fill the empty tank. The car ran perfect, even better than before. Today it rained and my wife used it to go to work. She said it was surging. Then she went through a puddle and it almost stalled. I checked it out when I got home. The motor started right up but had a slight miss. I heard a tell-tale ticking sound. Thank God I did not touch the coil. There was a MINI LIGHTNING BOLT arcing from under the coil wire plug to each coil terminal. First to #15 then to #1 and back and fourth in an even rythem. I put a new coil wire on it and it still did it. I tried another coil, the same thing, but this time it would stall out every now and then. Help.
What's going on? I have a bad feeling the wiring harness may have some bare wires that are wet.
Has this ever happen to you? Can this be fixed.
Ben
