later turbo exhaust manifold 700

1990 and later 740 turbos have the rounder exhaust manifold that some say gives 10 more horsepower because of its freer flowing design. Has anyone machined out the turbo port to accept the Garrett turbo and found it worth it? Do you get slightly faster spoolup and power or is it a time waster? I gather all the connections match up when you swap the Garrett for the Mitsu. It is a choice between the Garrett on the new manifold or keep the Mitsu and replumb and rehose to adapt to a pre 1990 740T application. Anyone have experience?
