my 82 will not cold start unless i spray it with starting fluid ,what is up with that? 200

how do you tell if the cold start injector is bad or is the fact that it acts in this manner proof that the injector is defunct?i got a couple at the junk yard today,is there a way to tell if they are good or just put one in and see if it works?...thanks in advance...kris
