To Bleed Or Not To Bleed 200

Before you bleed the system make sure the air is out of the MC. Ie. the pedal should be firm. If it sinks to the floor then the MC still has air in it.

Wear safety glasses. Protect paint. Don't depress pedal with MC removed from booster.

Removed from car, bleed the MC by using a rod or philips screwdriver to pump the piston till a stream of fluid comes out of the ports. On the piston return stroke block the ports (eg. with your fingers) to prevent air uptake. Once you get a solid stream, mount the MC.

If you have an assistant, you could bleed the MC installed, blocking the ports on pedal release.

Attach the lines. And check for pedal firmness.

If you open the defective MC, you'll see what a simple yet effective design it is. If you think you may be rebuilding an MC, keep the good cup seals as brake fluid resistant ones are hard to find.
