240 a/c system 200

Hi Everyone,

I was wondering if anyone might know of an easy way to put in an easier access port on the low pressure side of my '86 240's a/c system. I want to be able to add freon myself and I can't reach the 134a fitting on the back of the compressor. Is there another location where I can add freon? Also, What does the long metal wire that comes off of the expansion valve do? I removed my old expansion valve to switch to a R134a one, and I couldn't remember where that longer line goes.

Thanks!
Dave
