Changing vacuum system on B21F 200 1977

I have a 1977 245 with the B21F motor.
The vacuum system is a can of worms and was only used a couple of years./
This system used a vacuum accumulator or accelerator and has a cam shaft driven vacuum brake assist pump on top of the valve cover.

I am thinking about replacing the valve cover with a later one without the vacuum assist and eliminating the vacuum accelerator altogether.
That may also mean replacing the distributor as it has two vacuum lines.

Is there any one who has done this and what is the result?
What else do I need to do if I make those changes?

Thanks
Steve
