I Found a Brass Plug where my Oil Senor should be? 700 1986

Frist things first, thanks to all who take the time to look at this post!
With that said, I own a 740 GLE Wagon, with the B230F engin. I have done alot of work to this car just to make it road worthy (it was not maintained at all). I have spent countless hours on my brick an now it runs with everything working properly except for the fact that there is a Brass Plug where the oil pressure sensor should be. I don't know if this is how this engin should be or if the last owner had it put in (I have found all kinds of mistakes) for some odd reasion?
Anyway, I would hate to see all of my hard work got to waste because of an unknown oil problem.
Is this the way it came from the factory and if so can I get the proper sensor for this engin after market or something?
