Shifter isn't going into Park 200 1982

Hey all
Long time no post!!! I've been so busy with things that i haven't been posting or doin' anything to the ol' girl. Anyways, last night as i went to park in the driveway, the auto shifter in the '82 242GLT wouldn't go into park. I was tired so i just left her in neutral and put the parking brake on. This morning she still wouldn't go, so i expeerimented a bit on the way to work. It won't go into park, and there's not the audible "click" in between positions. Also, when i put it into reverse, it pulls the button down by itself!! No need to push down to change. Anyone encountered this before? The tranny shifts fine othewise, all the gears work and such.

As always, any help is great!!!
