TURN SIGNALS INOP/EMERGENCY FLASHERS OK 200 1986

My '86 240DL sedan with 290K has been having electrical issues lately. About 2 weeks ago, I went to make a left turn and noticed the left signal wasn't flashing. I tried the right, no luck either. A block up the road, I tried the left turn signal (and right) were working just fine. I didn't look into it any further, until this morning, when the exact same thing happened, but this time it stayed off. The emergency flasher works fine. When I got home, I dug out a spare turn signal relay I had aquired, but still no turn signals. All my fuses are just fine. Any suggestions where to begin to look???

I'm scratching my head over this one.

Thanks in advance.......
