1989 760 Turbo Sedan
141,000 Miles
Starting probably a year and a half ago, I lost my interior lighting. Checked it out and it was a blown fuse. I replaced it without incident. Every once and a while it would blow it again, but I figured it was not a big deal. About six months ago the fuse blew, and when I attempted to replace it it just blew again. I replaced my headlight switch / dimmer module and it fixed the problem for a short while. A few weeks later it continued blowing fuses. The fuse blows as soon as I tun on my headlights, although if I turn them on with the dimmer all the way down it won't blow. My dash is completely torn apart right now (I was replacing my turn signal relay and decided to look for the short.) and I removed the instrument panel. There is a single screw missing from the back of my cluster (there is a spot on the PCB for it and contacts in its hole), and I plan on replacing that. Is tere anything else I should check out while my dash is torn apart? Any common problems that can cause something like this?
Also, I tried replacing the voltage regulator since they are supposed to go out around 140 K miles, and it didn't make a difference.
Thanks in advance for your help.
