Front seat skin swap - doable?? 200 1986

My daily driver, 1986 244GL, has tan leather interior. I really like it. Problem is, the driver's seat has problems.

1. There is a rip in the seam that run up the outer edge of the seat back. The rip catches my cell phone sometimes, and it's getting longer - now 5 inches or so.

2. The upper right of the seat back seems to be deflating. The leather isn't pushed out and tight as before, getting wrinkly.

3. I have a matching set of seats in a non-op 1983 245GL. Good leather, no rips, etc. BUT - being a pre-1986 it has the older style headrests and I would rather have the newer curved style.

Question: If the skins, and back foam, from the 1983 are put on the frame of the 1986, will the holes from the older narrower head rest posts be covered by the stock 1986 headrests?

Is the job a real PITA, high labor content, requiring great skills? Or is it a hald-Saturday thing?

Any and all advice or experience will be appreciated.

Thanks,

Bob
