What does this mean? I know that my steering isn't what it should be, with the lack of the fluid, with one of the tie rod end's lubrication bubble seal thingys flattened with oily dirt surrounding it, and the idler arm bushing that i got from iPd that i am assuming was too small because of all the play in it. I used to think it was just that the idler assembly needed to be replaced, well, turns out that iPd gets small idler bushings quite often and that's probably what the problem is. While thinking about seeing if i need to asjust the steering box and while changing out the newish engine mounts, i noticed that there was a lot of oily dirt around the bottom half of the steering "box", i decided to check and see the fluid in the steering box. I saw NONE. What does this mean? What kind of fluid goes in there? I don't know how long it has been like this... My 164 engine mounts are in though. The reason i swapped them was because one was starting to have visible cracks and lean to the side, you can see them on my site, and they're only a year old. The other one looks new... Oh well, the engine mounts are in, what about the steering box fluid? Should i worry about putting some more in, or just get a hold of a new steering box or have this one rebuilt or what...? TIA,
(crapped engine mount) at almost 10,000 miles...
