Steering box.... lack of visible fluid??? help! 140-160

Put 90w gear oil in it and watch it. If it leaks out the bottom fill it full of grease and drive.

I have had grease in mine for 20 years without a problem. . No adjusments or anything...the thing steers great...

You might want to put your front end up and shake the arm that goes out of the steering box. Your might try to tighten it up if there is a lot of up and down play.
If your steering is loose you should also take a look at the steering shaft that goes to the steering box. The rubber bushings wear out and this causes sloppy steering. It is very easy to replace.

I have polly bushings, progressive springs, thick sway bars and koni shocks...the 164 mounts are a great improvement over the originals....I also have the ipd engine stabalizer bar..next project is a blower.

My 144 is blue and has a sunroof. I got it for $250.00 in '82 and have been driving it ever since.

My suggestion to you is take the money for the steering box and get the progressive springs from Parker . You will love them.
