oil leak 700 1986

I have an oil leak on a '86 760 GLE Turbo wagon, B230ft, 4-cyl. motor that I recently purchased. The leak is on the intake side of the engine, and has coated the side of the engine, wiring and hoses, alternator and A/C compressor, etc. It appears to be spraying out somewhere. After cleaning off this side of the engine, I still can not locate the source. Right now the alternator and battery are out of the car as the oil got in the alternator and it had to be replaced. Any ideas as to the source of this leak? What is the purpose of the "oil trap", located below the intake manifold? Is the oil pressure sending unit located somewhere in this area? Could that be it?
