HELP!! - CLOGGED CAT 700 1990

yeah, its non-turbo automatic. i took it to the shop because when i test drove it, it shifted really early and it was really slow. i thought something was wrong with the transmission, but the guy at the shop noticed the kickback cable was disconnected, and thats why it shifts to early. the guy said it'd cost about 120 to replace. i tried to reconnect it today but the cable is stuck.
