smoking head unit 200

I just went in to install my new head unit, I pluged the harness' in and turned the key, a puff of smoke came out of the head unit and it got REAL hot, as in it burned me when i touched it. I immediatly dissconnected the connections (crutchfields harness) and went over each wire to quadtruple check each wire to make sure I didnt connect anything wrong. They are all lined up allright. So i call crutchfield and the guy goes over the harness with me to make sure everything is right on the actual plug, which it is. then he tells me to take the yellow and red wire from my head unit and twist them together and put them in the positive on the battery, and then put the black wire to the neg, My 15 amp fuse pops thats in the yellow line. I go to home depot and get the only 15 amp 250 volt fuse they have(its ceramic and for a microwave by the way) So i put that one in and try again this time another puff of smoke from the head unit but i dont think the fuse popped. i immediatly disconnect but in the process see a red light light up on the dash (its dark outside and i saw the glow) and a buzzer, untill i disconnect the red/yellow wires. Well now the fuse #8 in my car is blown, it controals power locks, raido, trunk/dome/glove compartment lights, which are all out. I tried seeing what would happen if i plug the stock raido back in with the factory amp, the raido turns on and lights up and asks for code, i put it in and try for some tunes, and nothing. im guessing its that fuse. But when I take the key out and put it back in it asks for code again. Im guessing this is because the memory wire isnt getting power because of fuse 8 buing blown.

So my big question is, is there something really wrong with my cars wiring? or is it this damn head unit i just bought for $100

if it helps I own a 1991 240 sedan and the head unit is a clarion dxz535.
