tricks to hosing debris off the radiator? 900

Any trick to hosing debris off the radiator? I read somewhere that you're supposed to hose it off from the back, that is from the inside of the engine compartment aiming back towards the front... but on my 940 there's very limited access there.

Is it okay to hose through the fan opening without worrying about the electric connections? And is it okay to lift those rubber flaps on the backside of the radiator to hose through those?

Thanks for any tips...
