How to bypass the neutral safety switch 200 1988

I need to get this thing started ... checked everything I could think of. Good power to the starter, will turn over if I cross the terminal at the solenoid(?). SO, I suspect the neutral switch is the culprit (but hoping it's not the ignition switch!)...lots of play in the linkage (bushings worn). Any ideas, or further diagnosing guidelines, will be appreciated. I am just trying to avoid the tow bill & to get it to a shop for proper repair...my time off is limited now.

AS usual, thanks in advance;
randy b
