Gas tank interchangibility 200 1987

It's looking like I'll have to at least pull the gas tank to check out the leak. I'm looking at a cheap (aka free) replacement from an 83. Will an 83 gas tank fit into my 87 without any major modification? I'd like to use the 83 because 1) it's cheap, and 2) if it turns out that the leak doesn't require replacing, a free gas tank that can't be returned is better than one that cost $350 and can't be returned.
