no headlights 1990 240dl wagon

The headlights are unfused. Power comes from the hot (left) side of fuse 7 (GN/R wire) to Relay terminal 30.

With relay energized power comes out terminal 87 (single Y wire) to terminal 56 on the fender rail hi/lo relay, then out 56a (Blue) to Lowbeams, 56b (Red) to High beams.

Relay 87a powers fuses 15 & 16 for running lights. (Fuse 15/16 power comes straight from the switch in position 1, before the relay is picked in the Headlight position.)

Are the running lights also out when the switch is in the headligt position? I've seen that relay with the 87 contact corroded away, and 87a still working. If the relay lives down by the driver's left foot it can get damp and rusty inside. That's the location for '86. Yours may be elsewhere.
