anyone else had 'rotten egg' cat problems with FCPGroton converters? 200 1986

I replaced mine with a catalytic converter from FCPGroton, made by A&B (?). Since day one, it has smelled like rotten eggs no matter what gas I use, what the timing is set at, how hard I drive, you name it. I am afraid to return it under warranty because I dressed up some of the welds before I installed it, and this probably voids my warranty.

It looked like a great produsct - I am contemplating getting an exact replacement, IF I can feel confident that it will work OK. Any experiences?
