OD relay report and searching idle when warm 1984 200

My daughter's 240 is home for the summer.
I replaced the O2 sensor.. the old one was toasted.
I hoped that would help with the searching problem but .. NOT!.
When the car is cold it seems to do OK but as it warms up it starts to hunt.
I can hear the fuel pump cycling (The external puump/filter was replaced when
she bought it as was the rubber line for the in tank pump)

I also cleaned the flame trap and pulled the air bypass valve
and cleaned it up.. it cycles just fine when I have it on the bench...
Soooo I just am at loss why this damn thing wont idle when it warms up!
I can hear the external pump cycling also.. only after the car is warm.
Initially it just kind of purrs at a steady rate.
So... is it a return line blockage? Or is it the internal pump not doing
the job?
Help me before I put a rag in the filler tube and light it off! ;-)
