digital ambient temperature guage 700

Currently, I do not have a guage that displays the outside (ambient) temperature while I am driving.

I would especially like to know what the outside temperature is when I am driving on trips to places with temperature extremes such as Lake Tahoe or Death Valley, California.

And I would also just like to know what the outside temperature is during everyday driving too.

I have a 1990 740T with the following 4 factory guages in the 4 corners of the instrument display panel: Voltmeter (upper left position), Turbo boost pressure (upper right position), Fuel (lower left position) and Temperature(coolant) (lower right position).

Then, in the center of the instrument panel from left to right is the clock, speedometer and tachometer.

The volvo car manufacturer's website lists the following accessory guage options for my specific year/model car: oil pressure guage (top left or top right position), oil temperature guage (top left position), volt guage top left position (which I have now), and a digital ambient temperature guage (top left position).

If I decide to remove the Voltmeter guage and replace it with the Ambient Temperature guage, what does this do to my ability to operate the car reliably?

How important is the Voltmeter guage? Is there another solution?

I think the 1991 740T Fuel guage has an Ambient temperature guage built in it at the bottom of the guage.

Has anyone with a 1990 740T successfully installed the 1991 740T Fuel/Ambient Temperature guage?

My 1990 740T instrument panel, in the area below my fuel guage, has the clock reset knob with the words "unleaded fuel only" written just to the left of it.

So, it does not appear that I can use the 1991 740T Fuel/Ambient Temperature guage because the reset knob and the words "unleaded fuel only" may obscure the readout of the temperature.

I welcome all suggestions and advice. Thank you, Spiderman. 310-824-8940
