How do you tell if your power steering pump is bad? I notice a slight shakiness at tight, very low speed or idle turns. Could it be this pump is causing my mystery squeal at start up?

I changed belts, rebuilt alternator, tried new bushings in acc. frames! If the pump is dragging at idle turns, a funny feeling staccato, maybe it is causing the belts to turn intermittantly and squeal?

Any pump experts out there?
