Winshiled issues 200

I have a 1988 240 with winshileld issues. The trim is comming off in one corner. Now all of the sudden there is a white film that seems to be spreading through the glass. It won't come off either. I'm thinking that I will probably just buy a new winshield for it. What is the best brand to get. The previous owner had it replaced at a shop before, wonder if they guarantee there work. When it is changed, I wonder if I should go with the newer style winshild or stick with the old one. Is there any disavantages to the new style one? How do they look with the older chrome trimed cars?
