A compression test is done on all four cylinders under the same conditions. All four sparkplugs are removed and each individual cylinder is tested by attaching the gauge and cranking the engine over the same number of times for each cylinder with the throttle plate open. The results are then compared to each other. He didn't do anything to instill confidence about his ability. I hope he didn't charge you anything for this "service".
