Erratic Fuel Gauge 444-544 1953

Hi;

When the tank is somwhere between full and empty, it is completely normal that the needle moves during driving, because unlike modern cars there is no damping of the signal between the sender and the gauge on these early Volvo's. You can with some training use this jumpćing to judge how little fuel is left in the tank when you apporoach the empty level.

Your other problem with the needle indicating only 3/4 when tank is full sounds to me as a question of mechanically adjusting the floater on the sender so that the sender goes to the top/peak when the tank is full.

Good luck!
