New to M47 II question? 200

Well, my '89 w/ M47 makes no noise whatsoever and with 260k miles.
Once these trans have wear, no oil will change it much.
Be sure it's not somethning else like the exhaust, because the M47 would be more of a whirring if one of the gears were bad. Does it happen in all gears, or just the 5th gear (hiway)?
ps. I put in Mobil 1 ATF when I bought the car 6 yrs ago and it has run smooth, trouble free since, although was fine before that. The redline wouldn't be a bad idea, but you'd be throwing away good money if you have a bad trans.
