Power Seats: can a cable or gear box jam? 900 1991

Dear Dick,

Good p.m. and hope you're well. There have been several posts in the past week on this issue. Look through them. With those, the Volvo Tech manual, and the FAQs, you'll soon have things working properly.

If you must remove the driver's seat, PLEASE pull the negative battery terminal clamp from the battery, and put it in a plastic bag. This cuts power to the airbag sensor, which is under the driver's seat. If that sensor is banged or thumped, while you're removing the seat, it could trigger the airbag. An airbag deployment at close quarters is dangerous. It is also costly: about $1K.

Best of luck.

Yours faithfully,

spook
