easier than pushing really hard: shock compression 900 1991

afternoon all,

looking to eventually replace all shocks and rear springs on the wagon:

i picked up ipd's set of spring compressors, and strut nut removal tool, so hopefully that won't be a problem. my dad replaced the front struts on my mom's DL and he didn't have the tools, so i'm hoping these things save me some significant time.

is there an easy way to compress the shock to make it easier to install?

my buddy told me he had smashed his finger working with a spring. to avoid that (and possibly worse, are there any other suggestions or pieces of advice before i start giving the brick new legs?

muy muchas gracias,
gkl
