960 Starting Prolem 900 1996

Every now and again I turn the key on my 960 and the car won't start. All the dash lights come on but the starter motor just doesn't fire, it just clicks. When I rang my mechanic he said it may be a fault in the key. Apparently there is a chip in the key that when you place it in the ignition disengages the immobiliser. He suggested turning the key over or using a different key. I tried this the other day when it happened and no luck. Also moving the gear selector made no difference. Then after about 5 minutes it started fine and since then its been starting perfectly.

I'm worried this will happen more frequently and one day I'll be stranded. Any ideas before I take it in to the dealership?
