Recommend keeping tire pressures at least 30 psi ! 140-160

Saw a bunch of folks talking about running tires at 24 or 26 psi.

My worst accident was probably due to following manual instructions for a Datsun B210 which called for 24 psi. After a minor swerve, the car started to fishtail and then rolled over several times. I'm convinced the rolling started due to the tires peeling off the bead of the rim.

Autocrossers always keep their tires pumped well up - 35 to 40 psi is typical. Keeping the tire on the rim and the tread flat to the pavement is the objective.

Maybe on a new car I might follow mfgs instructions, but 30 year old instructions for obsolete tire and shock designs -- best throw these out the window.

Now I keep my tires to 32 psi cold, and will go to 36 cold for long high-speed trips. This is still well below tire mfgs allowable max pressure.

Best to keep the tire side down !
