Fuel Delivery Issues? 200 1988

My primary driver, a 1994 Ford F150, is out with a damaged transmission until at least the second week in September. I have to make my Volvo 240 work reliably NOW!
I am having fuel delivery issues with the 1988 Volvo 240. It is hard to start if I let it sit for a few days and it makes a clicking noise from the rear end upon acceleration. I know it is fuel related clicking as it happens when the car is in park as well as driving down the road. I am thinking this might be either, any or all of the following:

1. In tank pre-pump
2. Fuel pressure regulator
3. Fuel pump
4. Clogged fuel filter

I would really like your advice on this one. Money is of the essence as I am an out of work teacher whose first pay comes the second week in September. I would like to get to work making my Volvo more reliable next week so I would really need some input. Thanks in advance!
