Intermittant no-start on '88 740 700

Periodically (approx. every 2 weeks) my daughter has a no-start problem with her na '88 740. It will crank, but will not start. The problem occurs when the car has sat for several hours and is at ambient temperature. She can go back to it several minutes to several hours (no particular pattern to the time period) later and it starts right up. I've replaced the fuel pump relay (in the console), the fuel-injection relay (under the hood), the plugs and wires, and the positive battery cable. None of these have helped. She's coming home this weekend (hopefully in the 740) so I have gone to the junkyard and picked up an ECU, powerstage component (located on the left front fender) and another fuel injection component (located under the dash by the steering column). I also have a used distributor. I'm to the point of shotgunning the repair because she's 180 miles away when the car refuses to start. Is there anything else I should try to have on hand? Any suggestions as to the source of the problem? Thanks in advance for the help, I'm stumped.
