A full rebuild because "one of the carbs is not functioning properly" Could be jsut a stuck needle valve, could be the chokelinkage is jamming. The beauty of these carbs is that they are simple and they have no rubber in them, they could sit for 50 years and funtion first time out. find a better mechanic (any british car mechanic know these cold they ran in triumph, jag and MG) Even worn SUs will get you down the road for a week or two (year or two once), another reason they are so Great.
