>>"I just wish it was a little easier on gas. I can only manage 23 mpg, but I have a rather heavy foot."
So don't drive with a heavy foot! Simple solutions for simple problems my good man!
Heh heh heh...<<
I live in CO at 5,000 ft. elevation, and it takes a heavy foot to stay with traffic. I think it's also the weight of the car that doesn't help. I have an '85 Camaro Z-28 with Tuned Port Injection that can easily manage 20 mpg, and gets there much faster.
I have the 4-speed w/overdrive.
>>I get about 30 mpg on the highway in my 1980 245DL with an M-46 (the 4 speed with OD). Then again, I don't ever go over 55 mph (unless I absolutely have to for some reason), and I don't drive with a lead foot... at all...<<
Hey, I CAN'T DRIVE 55!! (to coin a phrase) I suppose at 55 I could come close to 30 mpg on the highway, but everyone would be passing me 20 or 25 mph faster, and I would be a source of road rage if I impeded traffic that much, not to mention in danger of being rear-ended.
And what reason would YOU have for driving over 55? I only drive with a lead foot so the Volvo can get out of its own way......
