About a year ago I bought an electric fan on ebay and installed it in front of the radiator of my '68 122. Yes, yes... a lot quieter. I live in Massachusetts too and although the fan is there I hardly ever need it. Only after exiting the highway and sitting in traffic.
By the way I was at the junkyard the other day and realized that they have (duh) a huge selection of used fans there. If I needed one now, that's where I would go. Perhaps I would test it with a battery before buying it.
