carb question 140-160

I've got a 144S which is the twin carb configuration. Mine are Stromberg 175 CD2 SE which has a fixed needle and seat (fixed fuel metering needle). They also used 175 CD2, which has an adjustable seat. Perhaps the Strombergs were more common in European models and not in the US. The advantage of the Stromberg over the SU is that you do not have to ballance the 2 carburettors. You just check that the pistons are approximately the same hight. On the SU's you've got to use a ballancing gauge to get it exactly right.
