Questions about electric cooling fan for 71 142E 140-160

I have a 12" electric fan and no other on my hotrod 1800, and it never comes on if the car is moving at all, only after sitting stuck in a jam for 15 minutes or so. There's a temp sensor that goes into the upper radiator hose, and the sensitivity is adjustable. No problems whatsoever.

I don't know if it's significantly quieter, as I installed it simultaneously with a different engine and exhaust.
