car alarm activated how do you de-activate it 700 1987

car battery went dead and now the anti-theft alarm won't de-activate , tried switch on alarm unit at droivers kick panel but that did't help , can't get car running as the alarm immobilizes it and I'm sick of pushing it in and out of my garage to work on it , please reply to opg599@rogers.com as well as I'm fairly new to this site and my or may not be able to retieve a reponse from it ,thanks.
