'89 Volvo 740 a/c compressor clipping out 700 1989

Team,
My 1989 Volvo 740 GL has been a great car with great A/C since I bought it. However, two days ago the AC/Turn Signal/Window fuse blew twice. I replaced it and everything but the AC works now. The compressor clips on and off randomly (Cold then hot then cold) now. Someone told me it could be a switch on the dryer, or the compressor plug could be grounding out. If anyone has any experiance with this I would greatly appriciate your assistance.
