suggestions when doing tranny swap....(how not to lose the last of your hair!) 200

Hey guys! just a quick piece of advice, I just swapped trannies on a 80 242 and it was a Bugger!!!! I have 2 suggestions, 1. pull the motor! by far a much easier job on the knuckles! and 2.if you don't pull the motor try twisting the tranny when removing and re-installing to clear the %#@!ing starter housing!. I was going nuts trying to get the tranny to clear the damn clutch (2hrs worth) until I noticed that there was a clearance issue with the starter housing, I twisted the tranny clockwise and VOILA! in it slid!
Anyway all in all it wasn't a bad do it yourself job just make sure the car is on stands and you have a couple of jacks to support the weight.
Oh, and don't forget to re-attach the 4 gauge starter wire when putting it all back together ( don't ask ;) )
