I bought a dealer replacement key for my beloved '87 760GLE from Robert Motors in Toronto today.
After I paid for it, and received the key they said "here you go". I was on my way with my "Volvo Canada" cut key. Well, the key didn't work, only opened the driver's door, would not work on the ignition or any other lock.
1 owner car, no lock cylinder ever changed.
I wanted a replacement, they told me NO!, I asked for my money back, they said NO, well...... I got a wee bit pissed, a Volvo key costs $15 Cnd, an aftermarket Rubber look a like is $5 Cnd...
They were rude at the parts counter, the parts manager wasn't helpful, taking sides with the parts salesperson...... which is not fine, it is $15 we are talking about, not $hundreds, we've only bought 3 Volvos from this dealer and had them serviced there........ up until today...
Thankfully, a salesperson saw my frustration and took $15 from his pocket and refunded my money.
I was more frustrated with their stupidity....... you pay $15 for a key, if it doesn't work, they tell you "Sorry sir, you're SOL..., pay for another and we'll get it cut". well, I don't buy that.
If they weren't so rude, I probably wouldn't have been so upset. Their conduct was horrible.
I hear and know that Robert Motors does decent service, but as far as their parts dept........ below average performance.
If you don't like grief, don't go to Robert Motors, especially if you expect a key to work on your Volvo...
Cheers
