1983 760 GLE Turbo Diesel Timing 700

Hi:

I hope you Diesel guys can help me. What's the proper timing, on the dial indicator. I just replaced my rear timing belt. Set the camshaft in the proper place with the cam stop and adjusted my timing. The green book says .80mm on the dial indicator for 1982-1983 USA. This guy on another board said to set it to .88mm. He said the green book is full of errors. I think it's knocking too much now. I found it at .85mm before I did the job.

I'm thinking of going to .80mm but don't want to retard it too much. What works for you guys?

Thanks
