ZERO Vacuum at Idle??? 200

I just replaced my vacuum hose that runs from the intake to the carbon canister as it was really badly damaged, and my vacuum gauge now shows 0 when im at idle or driving off the throttle. Is this wrong?? It used to show between 20 and 30 in.hg. at idle.. who knows.
